Conditori La Glace @ Copenhagen, Denmark

When Master Confectioner Nicolaus Henningsen opened his doors at Skoubogade 3 in 1870, he never thought that the confectionery would stay at the same location for more than 5 generations.
Guests have come and go in steady stream over the past decades - all overwhelmed by the extensive assortment of cakes, cookies, chocolates and ice creams.
With furnitures dating back to the 1920s, the ambiance was pleasant, making it a wonderful place to indulge oneself with sweets and caffeine.
Sportskage (DKK 52) - If you could only order one thing here ( which is not recommended ) make it the Sportskage. This house specialty was created back in the 1891 for a theater play called "Sports Man". The treat was amply riched by crushed nougat, whipped cream and macaroon bottom.
Fragilite (DKK 31) - Also not to be overlooked is the Fragilite, which literally means fragile in French. This lovely pastry was made of almond bottom, mocha butter cream and decorated with powdered sugar.
Efterarskage (DKK 52) - Another name to drop is The Autumn Cake, an art piece filled with chocolate truffle, chocolate bottom and smothered with butter chocolate!
Conditori La Glace is not just a go-to place for desserts, they also rule when it comes to hot chocolate.

Hummingbirds Coffee Bar @ Bangsar

One of life's greatest pleasures is to enjoy great tea with friends in a relaxed setting. Located in Beatrice Looi Boutique at Telawi Street, Hummingbirds Coffee Bar is perpetually stocked with a variety of cakes, macaroons and cookies - ready to set your weekend right.
Hummingbirds' opulent ambiance was perfect for sweet indulgence and girls gossiping.
Gossip girls never leave their wardrobe behind.
Green Tea Apple and Pear (RM6)
The Women's Day Tea Set Promotion (limited edition RM13.80) came with a cup of tea, set of 4 mini cupcake and cakes. From left to right: tofu custard drizzled with kiwi sauce, chocolate brownie, blueberry tart and red velvet cupcake.
English Breakfast Tea

Signature Hummingbird Cake - The cake's texture was dense and moist, topped with the popular cream cheese icing. The combination of bananas, pineapples, pecans, cinnamon and cream cheese was sinfully delicious.
Red Velvet Cake - As elegant as always...The rich tangy buttery taste paired well with the mild chocolaty flavor.
Macaroons (RM5 each) - These pastel shades macaroons were filled with buttercream, sandwiched between almond wafers.  3 out of the 4 macaroons was a tad too hard. These delicate cookies are best eaten fresh.

Fanny Ice Cream @ Near Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi

Fanny Ice Cream may not be on everyone's to-eat-list, but a visit there may change your mind. This family friendly ice cream parlor overlooking the Hoan Kiem Lake was founded by Jean Marc Bruno in 1994. The menu was comprehensive, with over 30 different ice cream flavors and unique food-like creations.

Die hard fans should visit the parlor on the first Friday of every month to indulge on the all-you-can-eat ice cream buffet starting from 630pm to 11pm.
Sushi (109,000 VND ~ RM16) - For those looking for an instant gratification, the Sushi,  inspired by tropical fruits would be a good choice - no chopsticks are required for this dish. The sushi was accompanied by chocolate and strawberry dipping sauce. We were won over by the creative design and creamy ice cream.
Spring Rolls (85,000 VND ~ RM12) - The Spring Roll was colorful and creatively flavored with vanilla ice cream, blueberry and mix berries sorbet. The combination of crepes, almonds, fresh strawberries and chocolate fudge escorted our taste buds to heaven.

Skilled at matching flavors and innovating new ice cream dishes. Jean Marc Bruno is not so much an ice cream artisan, as he is a flavor maestro.

Question: How often do you have ice cream? Would you pay a premium for creative dessert like these? =)

Verdict : TOTALLY SMITTEN

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop @ San Francisco

Ghirardelli (pronounced as Gear-ar-delly) is the second oldest chocolate company in United States, after Baker's Chocolate. Founded by Dormingo Ghirardelli, an Italian chocolatier in 1952, the company prides itself for being one of the few American manufacturers that controls the entire chocolate manufacturing process, from cocoa beans to finished products.
Ghirardelli Square is located at the corner of Beach St. and Larkin St. (west side of Fisherman's Wharf)
Even though Ghirardelli's chocolates are available in most of the U.S. grocery stores. Nobody would want to give The Original Chocolate Shop a miss.
Stop by the World Famous Ice Cream Shop for an intense chocolate fix.
Ghirardelli roasts the cocoa beans in house and uses a comprehensive refining process to ensure that the chocolate truly melts in your mouth!
Ghirardelli's product line includes its signature squares chocolate, chocolate bars, other chocolate confections, baking chocolate and chocolate beverages.
Baked treats: Chocolate Strawberries, brownies and chocolate chip cookies.
Everyone loves chocolate - A chocolate in the mouth is worth two on the plate!
Domingo Sundae (US$6.95) - A tribute to its founder, Domingo Ghirardelli. Two scoops of premium vanilla ice cream, homemade hot fudge, surrounded by bananas and topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry.
Midnight Reverie (US$7.95) - Two scoops of chocolate ice cream, homemade dark chocolate hot fudge, sprinkled with dark decadent chips and a Midnight Reverie 86% Intense Dark Chocolate.

Olsen's Danish Village Bakery @ Solvang

While waiting for a table at Paula's Pancake House, we decided to check out Olsen's Danish Village Bakery. The bakery can be quite overwhelming with so many options to choose from.
Bent Olsen, a third generation baker left Denmark to work with Solvang's Danish baker in the mid 60's. Five years later, he set up his own shop where he presents a full line of Danish treats.  Today, the bakery is run by his son, Herluf Olsen and his wife.
It is here where family recipes of four generations are found
Life is short. Eat Cookies =)
The Apple Strudel was amazing, the pastry was buttery and flaky. The apple filling was more apple than syrup and the combination of almonds flakes made it heavenly
These deliciously crisp cookies are filled with scrumptious butter flavor. The cookie tub assortment contains 6 different flavors : almond, coconut, oatmeal, chocolate vanilla swirl and cinnamon

Verdict: TOTALLY SMITTEN

Cold Stone Creamery @ Downtown Santa Barbara

Cold Stone Creamery may not be a healthiest ice cream in town but I can tell you - It is the creamiest and smoothest ice cream I have eaten so far! The ice cream is combined with mix-ins, such as candies, nuts, cakes, chocolates and other items, which are folded into the ice cream to create your own unique flavor. This blissful creation comes in three sizes - Like It (5oz), Love It (8oz) and Gotta Have It (12oz).
In the spirit of joviality, Cold Stone employees will sing a Cold Stone song whenever a customer give tips
Flavors flavors, which is the tastiest of all? Sweet Cream, French Vanilla, Cheesecake, Strawberry, Mint, Coffee, Chocolate, Banana, Eggnog, Bubble Gum, Cinnamon, Coconut....
My unique creation - Banana Ice Cream + Fresh Strawberries. Let's call it Red Banana =D
Cold Stone Signature Creation : Coffee Lovers - Coffee Ice Cream, Toffee Bar and Caramel
Cold Stone Signature Creation : Chocolate Devotion - Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Chips, Brownie and Fudge

We love the Red Banana so much that we order an extra pint to go. It was absolutely delicious.

In my opinion, there are 3 top dessert places in California - 1) Diddy Riese, 2) Pizookie by BJ's  and of course 3) Cold Stone Creamery.
