Bun Bo Nam Bo @ Nha Hang 67 Hang Dieu

Just like Malaysia, Hanoi is a food paradise with plethora of food to choose from. Most of the best food in Hanoi is found on the sidewalk, with dishes that features the usual suspects such as, fish sauce, fresh herbs, rice noodles and beef. Nha Hang 67 Hang Dieu is a well known Bun Bo Nam Bo street kitchen that has been around since 1988.

One thing I learned in Hanoi is not to worry about the language barrier. Most of the restaurant will know what you want. All you need to do is order the portion and find a place to sit.
The restaurant is long, deep and narrow with stainless steel communal tables and wooden benches filling up the empty space.

Bun Bo Nam Bo (50,000 VND ~ RM7.33), which literally means "Southern Beef Noodle" is a concoction of rice noodles, topped with sliced beef, peanuts, dried onions, bean sprouts, green papaya, coriander and basil leaves - all drenched in a small portion of sweet savory fish sauce.

Like any bowl of noodles, mixing is essential before digging in. The tangy broth at the bottom of the bowl was exceptional, harmonizing all the ingredients together. The bowl of noodles was full of flavors, making each mouthful complex and intriguing.

Verdict : TOTALLY SMITTEN

  5. Vietnamese food is my kind of taste and like I have shared before, I simply adore the fresh herbs used into their dishes. I did have some of those with peanuts into the noodles but of course since beef is a big no, I did have the chance to look at the noodles my friends had with the it and sure they loved it very much.

These little shops do served some of the best noodles merged into tangy and spicy broth and overall, I will go back again to Vietnam given a chance, again for reasons of the Asian cuisines.

  8. Is it weird to ask for no taugeh? Wendy can't stand taugeh..haha. I'm glad you say Hanoi has lots of food! Everyone's been telling us there isn't much to do there, but if there's food I think we'll be well covered! =D

    1. I'm sure you can opt out the taugeh, but it will be less crunchy though. Honestly, just go there for the food... you can't find it anywhere in Malaysia! =)

  11. I ate here 4 times now and am going mad to recreate this wonderful dish back in canada. I just finished 5 weeks in vietnam from south to north and would say this is the best dish ive had of all. I'm a foodie and have eaten in the finest restuarants in every city to the hole in the wall street foods, and everything in between on my 5 week bicycle trip of vietnam............ but Bun Bo Nam Bo. I should have paid them for this recipe as im sure i cant recreate it at home:(

    1. I must agree with you the Bun Bo Nam Bo here is too awesome. Among all the street food in Vietnam, this was my favorite! I'm glad that you enjoy it too. If you can't recreate the dish, then you gotta go back to Hanoi for more. =)
